Saturday 10th September – walk **** – Nacton Shores – sunshine and
showers.
Had hoped to go windsurf foiling at Levington this morning but the wind was
marginal at best so decided to give it a miss having a morning at home
doing my exercises some inside dodging the heavy rain, thunder too but
outside when the sun reappeared when it became pretty warm! I did not
finish until around 1.30 and with it still looking showery, we decided to
make a picnic and drive over to Nacton Shores to enjoy it by the Rive
Orwell. We arrived at 2.15 with the tide starting to drop but with the
winds very light the Orwell was calm, we had loads of dog walkers, families
enjoying a stroll, a few becalmed yachts and a paddle boarder and later an
old barge came past from Ipswich :) Our sandwich was delicious and it was
verry hot with the sun right in our faces but there were some menacing
black skies’ so we decided to have our walk hoping not to get wet! We
took the quieter route towards Ipswich through the lovely woods before
coming on the river foreshore reaching our turning point, the beautiful
cottage with a small dry dock just as the ain started. We sheltered under a
oak tree before returning with the river dropping fast with loads of birds
feeding in the mud:)
